Set Up Your Domain in Uppush
Learn how to sign, verify, and use a custom email domain in Uppush.
Why You Need to Verify Your Domain
Domain verification ensures that you are the legitimate owner of the domain and that your emails are properly authenticated. Without verification, emails sent from Uppush may appear suspicious to email providers and are more likely to land in spam or fail to deliver.
Verification is also required to set up authentication methods such as SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, which prove to email services like Gmail and Outlook that your messages are genuine. This protects your brand reputation, improves deliverability, and helps prevent others from sending unauthorized emails using your domain.
Verifying Your Domain in Uppush:
Before You Begin
- If you haven’t verified a custom sender domain in Uppush, your emails will be sent using Uppush's shared domain by default. Read below to learn how to check your current domain setup.
- Domain share is free for all Uppush users.
- It’s important to know who your domain provider is, as each provider has its own steps for adding DNS records. If you're not sure who your provider is, visit who.is, enter your domain name, and check the Registrar or Name Servers field
- A custom domain doesn't guarantee better deliverability. You must warm up your domain after verification and follow deliverability best practices.
- As the final step, remember to assign the verified domain/subdomain to your Campaigns/Automations accordingly.
Benefits of Verifying a Sending Domain
A verified sending domain helps improve your email deliverability and strengthens your brand identity.
1. Authenticate Your Emails
Domain verification allows Uppush to authenticate your emails using industry-standard email authentication methods.
Authenticated emails help mailbox providers identify your messages as legitimate, improving sender trust and reducing the likelihood of emails being marked as spam.
2. Build Brand Trust
Using your own sending domain makes your emails more recognizable to subscribers.
When recipients consistently receive emails from your brand domain, they are more likely to trust your messages, engage with your content, and recognize your business.
3. Improve Long-Term Deliverability
We recommend using a dedicated subdomain for email marketing, such as:
- mail.yourdomain.com
- email.yourdomain.com
- send.yourdomain.com
Using a dedicated sending domain helps separate your marketing email reputation from your primary website domain and makes it easier to monitor and maintain email performance over time.
Checking Current Domain Setup
To see whether you're using a shared or custom (dedicated) domain, go to Settings → Verify domain.
You’ll see one of the following statuses:
- No custom domain: The list is empty, and you're using Uppush's shared domain.
- In progress: A domain has been added, but authentication is still ongoing.
- Unverified: A domain has been added, but verification failed due to incorrect authentication setup.
- Verified: Your custom domain has been successfully authenticated.

Custom Email Domain Setup Process
Step 1. Navigate to Settings → Verify domain.

Step 2. Enter your MAIL FROM subdomain and sender domain

In the MAIL FROM subdomain field, enter the subdomain you want to use for email sending, such as:
- send
- uppush
In the Sender domain field, enter your root domain, for example:
- yourstore.com
Domain .myshopify.com
Shopify virtual domains (*.myshopify.com) cannot be verified for email sending. Please add your own domain and verify it. Example:
- yourstore.myshopify.com ❌
- mail.yourstore.com ✅
Important:
Uppush recommends using a dedicated subdomain for email sending rather than your root domain directly.
Each root domain only needs one sending domain. Using multiple sending domains under the same root domain, such as:
- mail.yourstore.com
- push.yourstore.com
generally does not provide additional deliverability benefits and is not recommended.
Step 3. View the DNS records
After adding your domain, click View details to view the DNS records required for verification.
Uppush will provide the DNS records needed to authenticate your sending domain, including:
- DKIM records
- SPF records
- DMARC records (if applicable)
You will need to add these records to your domain's DNS provider before the domain can be verified successfully.

Step4. Add the DNS records to your domain provider
Copy all DNS records displayed by Uppush and add them to your domain provider's DNS settings.

The required records typically include:
- CNAME records for DKIM authentication
- TXT records for SPF and DMARC policies
- MX records for MAIL FROM configuration
Make sure each record is added exactly as shown, including the Name, Value, and Priority fields (if applicable).
INFO
DNS changes are not applied instantly. Most records are detected within a few minutes, but DNS propagation can take up to 24 hours depending on your DNS provider.
If your domain status still shows Pending after adding the records, wait a few minutes and try checking again.
Step 5. Check DNS Status
- The status of your DKIM, DMARC, and SPF records will initially show as NOT_STARTED or PENDING.

Step 6. Verify your DNS records
After adding all required DNS records, return to Uppush and click Check DNS.
Once all records are detected successfully, your domain status will change to Verified and you can start sending emails using your own domain.
Wait for DNS Propagation
- It usually takes a few minutes for DNS records to propagate and become active.
- In some cases, it can take up to several hours for the changes to fully reflect across all DNS servers.
Once the records are successfully verified, you will be able to send emails from your own domain using Uppush.
Important Note: Failed Verification
- If you do not complete the domain verification within 3 days of requesting it, the status will change to FAILED.
- Once the status is FAILED, you will need to contact us to renew the verification process.
